Hi! I’m Jules,
A painter, mum & low-key adventurer
I started painting (properly) in 2018. I had dabbled slightly unconvincingly before that - I had some old watercolours, which I did not know how to use, and all of my paintings were basically some pretty colours (read:sunset/sunrise) with a silhouette of a tree or something!

After I did a four session adult ed course, 'Paint a landscape in acrylics', I realised I wasn't entirely devoid of talent and maybe I should be putting a little more effort in. In September 2018 I signed up for a one afternoon a week year-long course, optimistically opting for the 'intermediate' course rather than the beginner one, as it was on a more convenient day!

I liked it so much I did it again in 2019/2020, although the second half of that was cancelled due to you-know-what, so I did it again in 2020/2021. Some of that was online, but we struggled through and came out smiling at the end. Armed with a confidence I just hadn't had before, I set up a studio in my back garden and started painting in earnest.

Now I paint when I can, and am always looking for inspiration around me. My phone is full of photos of things that I want to paint!

I live on the south coast of England with my husband and daughter, although we are hoping to move to Canada some day, where I hope to paint mountains and bears and epic landscapes ... fingers crossed, and watch this space to see how we get on!
